Meet Bei (B.E.I. = Big Eastern Indigo – props to us for originality)

Species: Eastern Indigo Snake (Drymarchon couperi)

Bei is a male Eastern Indigo Snake, and he is 5 years old. He’s our gentle boy—super sweet and always curious. When he’s out of his enclosure, he loves to explore and check out everything around him. Eastern Indigos are known for their beautiful dark scales that shimmer blue or purple in the light. That’s actually where they get their name—“indigo” comes from a deep blue-purple dye made from a plant called Indigofera. Bei’s shimmering scales and friendly nature make him a favorite around here!
